Universal Music in Tokyo chooses SADiE for its new mastering suites
Tokyo, Japan: Build quality and sonic fidelity are the key reasons why Universal Music has chosen SADiE editing systems for its mastering suites in Tokyo.
Universal Music Mastering Suite 1
The record company recently updated the equipment in four of its mastering suites, installing turnkey SADiE systems in each room. These are being used for both editing and mastering purposes.
Universal Music Mastering Suite 2
Mr. Komatsu Satoshi, SADiE Product Manager at the company's Japanese distributor Otaritec, says: "Universal Music was running a Sonic Solutions HD system but after testing various other systems the company decided the SADiE solution was best suited to its needs. Universal Music has installed three SADiE PCM8 and one PCM-H8 mastering workstations. It has also invested in a number of plug-ins including SNS and CEDAR restoration tools such as DeClick, DeCrackle and Retouch™. They are very happy with the results they are achieving from their new equipment and are particularly impressed with the sound quality that SADiE delivers."
Used extensively by broadcast, post production and mastering facilities around the world, SADiE systems are all based on rigorously tested DSP engine hardware. Depending on the customer's requirements, each has different Input/Output connections and DSP power enabling recording, editing, mixing and delivery methods to be tailored to an individual user's needs.
The PCM-H8 chosen by Universal Music is designed for complex processing and post-production applications where high levels of DSP power are required in order to achieve high speed, high power processing, but without the need for large numbers of physical input and outputs. It can replay and edit 64 channels of 24bit 48kHz audio with real-time cross-fades and punch-ins, and offers similar DSP processing power to the PCM-H64 multi-track system.
The PCM8 is an 8 input/8 output SADiE system running full SADiE software. It is ideal for general purpose stereo and surround mastering applications, music and radio production and all general high-end and advanced editing requirements. The PCM8 may be additionally configured to customer requirements to provide a range of additional functions from the extensive range available.
